About me
I am Joost Lekkerkerker, also known as Joostlek. You probably know me for my work on Home Assistant. Within the Home Assistant project, I handle Developer Relations aspects, as without our contributors, our project wouldn't be as awesome! The best part: I am able to work on Home Assistant full-time, thanks to the Open Home Foundation. Besides programming, I enjoy cooking, playing games, and home improvement projects.
This blog
I started this blog as I genuinely enjoy deep dives, for example Nolen Royalty's blogpost about a website with one million checkboxes. Or a 50-minute video by Ethan Chlebowski on which type of salt to use when cooking. Content like this tickles my inner nerd by showing an interesting (imaginary) problem and then go on to describe how they solved it.
This blog is my attempt to give back, by talking about the challenges I’ve faced. In a way this blog also helps me to write down my thoughts. I have some exciting challenges up ahead, like building a new smart home, and a personal goal to give a talk this year (but because of the home I might postpone it to next year).
